Ms. Kwok is a barista with professional baking certifications, boasting over a decade of industry experience. Since 2020, she has been teaching a series of courses at the Industrial and Commercial Social Service Unit, including the "Foundation Certificate in Barista Training", "Foundation Certificate in Latte Art (Part-time)", and "Foundation Certificate in Coffee Roasting (Part-time)" courses, with the aim of introducing more people to the world of coffee and the profession of a barista.
She refers to herself as the "relentless barista mentor," and never shows favouritism, regardless of whether a student attempts to curry favour or acts spoiled. In fact, she is a thoughtful mentor who takes an active interest in students with weaker learning abilities, encouraging them to continuously try and practice diligently. She also shares her work experiences, industry insights, and attitudes towards life with her students, imparting everything without reservation.
Furthermore, Ms. Kwok is also dedicated to talent development. Not only does she recommend outstanding students for employment in the organization, but she also collaborates with employment officers to provide career planning advice for graduates who wish to enter the coffee industry. When she encounters suitable students, Ms. Kwok even hires them directly and invites them to participate in related volunteer work to help with their development.
Ms. Kwok has hosted the "Coffee Exploration Workshop" for the Employment Support Program. Through her relaxed and systematic teaching style, she introduced a group of older, low-motivation unemployed individuals to the coffee industry, sharing her journey of becoming a barista and mentor, and inspiring them to pick themselves up.
Ms. Kwok leads by example, demonstrating the spirit of "never give up, always keep moving forward". She is not only an excellent mentor in the eyes of her students, but also an important partner of the organization.
