Mr. and Mrs. Ng, along with their 8-year-old son, live together in Tsuen Wan. Their son has been diagnosed with moderate intellectual disability, autism, and epilepsy, requiring constant attention and care. Mrs. Ng also takes the time to care for her mentally unstable grandmother and works odd jobs to supplement the family's income. Under the immense stress of caregiving, she has developed depression, requiring ongoing medical treatment and medication. To shoulder the family's expenses, Mr. Ng has opted for night shifts, taking turns with his wife during the day to care for their son.

This small family, over the years, has often felt powerless due to their son's condition. However, they have chosen not to give up their jobs, instead applying for various subsidies in the hope of improving their quality of life. They hold onto their faith, give their all for the family, and are deeply grateful for the support they receive from all quarters.

Since August 2021, Mrs. Ng has been a beneficiary of the " Blessed Food - Short-term Food Assistance Service" three times.

This service has relieved her life pressures in many ways. Although Mr. Ng has a stable income and Mrs. Ng earns from her odd jobs, the cost of family care often requires meticulous budgeting. With food assistance, especially supermarket food coupons, she can finally dare to buy some nutritious food for her son, maintain his health, and reduce medical expenses. Even if the son falls ill occasionally, the savings can be used to pay for the medical costs. Moreover, the money saved can also increase the frequency of taking their son out to engage with the community, helping him adapt to society.

This service is implemented by the Integrated Career Development Service, which also provides training and employment information. Mrs. Wu has recently started planning to attend courses to enhance her skills and look for a stable part-time job to further increase the family's income. Although the money saved from food aid is not much, Mrs. Wu is still very grateful. She believes that the quality of life of this small family will gradually improve and become happier.
