On the rocky path of marriage, Shan bore the responsibility of raising two children alone. Despite being in a state of despair, she remained resilient, drawing strength from her deep love for her children and her unyielding determination, and emerged from the shadows. Thankfully, her motherly love was not wasted; her children deeply felt her toil and took the initiative to share household chores and study hard from a young age, becoming role models among their peers.
Unleashing Potential and Expanding Horizon
To assist her son Fan's growth, Shan participated in the Children's Development Fund program hosted by our institution. Initially, they joined this program mainly for the two different types of fund support it offered, which could allow Fan to realize his dreams, and also learn to save under the guidance of social workers. However, the impact of the program far exceeded their expectations. After participating in the program, Fan gradually regained his confidence and actively participated in volunteer services. His dedication was appreciated and supported by the members of the co-organizing group, who provided him with various learning opportunities such as media interviews, participation in filming activities, and internships, which expanded his horizons and enriched his life experiences.
Fan is deeply grateful and values every challenge and every helping hand that has been extended to him. He understands how precious these learning opportunities are. With a grateful heart and a positive attitude, he inspires those around him. We firmly believe that he will persist in his dreams and achieve his goals.
The Family Activity and Resource Centre is currently implementing the "Child Development Fund" projects in two phases. Activities include collaborative brainstorming between social workers and students to create personal development plans, as well as discussions on how to make the most of the two-year savings. Additionally, the Centre works closely with the Child Development Initiative Alliance to arrange work experiences that encourage students to contemplate and explore their future paths. The involvement of parents is also a crucial element of this program, aiming to encourage them to support their children in saving and financial management.
